Casper

Casper is a dark fawn cria from Imogen & prize winning male Farleigh. He is very well fleeced, thanks to both his sire and his dam. We are hoping for a promising future for Casper. Casper is our last cria of this season. We are already looking forward to next season to see what improvements our breeding program will provide.

Marmite

Marmite is a dark brown cria from Chloe & prize winning male Romeo.

Hovis

Caramel chose to birth in the dust bowl, so with some persuasion she was moved onto the grass. Young Sam was watching, waiting impatiently until Hovis took his first steps. Always an exciting occasion.

Magnum Blaze

Amelia was put with a black stud, Shafts' Dream, we were expecting and hoping for a black cria. Amelia's cria was blessed with a much more unusual colouring, a rose grey. This is a combination of Black, Brown & White fleece giving a grey appearance. Hi to Ellie & Jamie who visited us twice to check on Blaze's progress.

Mochaccino

Tinker is an experienced mum and out popped Mocha early in the moring with no problems. A lovely mini-me version of her mum.

Ebony

Ebony is a lovely black female cria, sired by our prize winning stud Romeo. He is light fawn, so we were pleasantly surprised when Ariadne produced a black girl. Hi to Charlotte & Chloe who visited us when Ebony was born, how is the knitting ?

Nutmeg

This is Angelica's first cria, she gave us quite a surprise when Nutmeg popped out. Angelica had given no signs of impending motherhood, and was much earlier than her dues dates which were middle of August. Nutmeg was so small we took her into the barn overnight for the first few nights. Then during the day she wore her cria coat to keep her dry, it was just raining constantly. What a miserable start for her, but her mum was very attentive and fed her well, giving her the best care that she could. Nutmeg is now growing well to catch up with her friends. With thanks to Eve for suggesting Nutmeg's lovely name.

Dizzy Lizzie

It was another day of rain and checking on the girls, Beth was approaching her birthing period dates and was as big as a bus, so we expected her to birth any time, but hopefully not yet as it was so wet. A break in the weather and Beth produced her baby, a lovely ivory cream girl.

Bramwell

Bramwell came into the world very early, at 10 and a half months gestation. He was well formed and suckled immediately. Each alpaca is an individual, and, although the average gestation is between 343 days and 11 and a half months, it is not an exact science.

This is Romeo's first offspring, we are very excited to see what the rest of the season will bring as we have more girls pregnant to Romeo.

Wonderful Life

Alpacas are so gentle, they have given us a "Wonderful Life" here at Cherwell Leys. The miracle of birth, another "Wonderful Life" has begun.

A Farleigh baby, solid white, showing the stamp of Farleigh. Born with plenty of fleece coverage, and perfect conformation. Destined for the show ring 2008.

Cassandra

Cassandra was soon up on the milk bar and then meeting her new friends, Paddington & Garibaldi
